Junio Barreto is a Brazilian singer-songwriter born in Caruaru, Pernambuco, in 1968. His musical journey began in his hometown, where he was exposed to traditional Northeastern Brazilian music. He later moved to Recife, where he became immersed in the vibrant Mangue Beat scene, befriending and collaborating with artists from the local music community.
Relocating to São Paulo, Barreto's compositions started gaining recognition from established artists. His work caught the attention of renowned musicians such as Lenine, Maria Rita, and Gal Costa, who have recorded his songs.
