Biography

Jup do Bairro is a Brazilian multimedia artist, singer, songwriter, and performer born and raised in the Capão Redondo district of São Paulo. Beginning her artistic journey in 2007, she initially gained prominence as a backing vocal and performer for the influential artist Linn da Quebrada, contributing to the creation of the album Pajubá. Throughout her multifaceted career, she has worked as an educator, stylist, actress, and event producer, consistently centering her work on narratives reflecting her identity as a trans woman from the urban periphery.

In 2020, Jup do Bairro launched her critically acclaimed debut solo EP, Corpo sem Juízo, featuring collaborations with artists such as Deize Tigrona, Rico Dalasam, and Mulambo. The release was a major milestone, earning her accolades including Revelation of the Year at the Multishow Brazilian Music Awards and the APCA Trophy. Expanding her reach into television, she co-hosted the talk show TransMissão alongside Linn da Quebrada on Canal Brasil, making history as the first talk show in the country hosted by a trans person.

Continuing her trajectory of musical innovation, Jup released her second EP, in.corpo.ração, in 2024, with production by the duo CyberKills and guest appearances from Mateus Fazeno Rock and Edgar. She has also taken her energetic performances to major festivals, including Lollapalooza Brazil, establishing herself as a vital and distinctive voice in contemporary Brazilian music.
