Biography
Kamikaze was a Brazilian rock band formed in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, in the mid-1980s. The group consisted of Guilherme Bizzotto on vocals, Reginaldo Silva on guitar, Gustavo Duarte on bass, and João Guimarães on drums. Their sound was characterized by a heavier style of rock, blending hard rock with elements of heavy metal.
The band released their debut EP, also titled "Kamikaze," in 1986, which gained radio play with the song "Machado de Guerra." In 1990, they released their first full-length album, "Kamikaze II," through Cogumelo Records, featuring a mix of heavier tracks and ballads. Later, in 1994, they collaborated with lyricist Chico Amaral, known for his work with Skank, to produce new material, including songs like "Meia Noite" and "Nunca Se Viu."
Kamikaze's music often featured lyrics in Portuguese and addressed relevant themes of the time. Their work is considered an important part of the national rock and heavy metal scene of the 1980s in Brazil. In recent years, Cogumelo Records, in partnership with Voice Music and Classic Metal, released a special compilation album titled "Kamikaze," which chronologically organized all of the band's material.
