Biography

O Karma was a rural rock power trio formed in Rio de Janeiro in 1972, consisting of Jorge Amiden, Luiz Mendes Junior, and Alen Cazinho Terra. The band gained prominence right in the year of their formation by participating in the International Song Festival (FIC) with the song "Depois do porão".

Still in 1972, the group released their sole, self-titled album through the record label RCA Victor, featuring guest appearances by important names in Brazilian music, such as arranger Arthur Verocai and instrumentalist Rildo Hora. The record ended up becoming a rarity highly coveted by collectors over the years.

The historical importance of the band's only studio recording was consecrated by appearing in the work "Lindo Sonho Delirante: 100 Discos Psicodélicos do Brasil", cementing the group's legacy within psychedelia and national rock. Later, in 2010, the album was reissued on the initiative of Livraria Cultura in partnership with Sony Music, under the curation of Charles Gavin.
