Biography

Karol Conka, artistic name of Karoline dos Santos de Oliveira, is a prominent Brazilian rapper, singer, songwriter, and television presenter. Born in Curitiba, she grew up in the Boqueirão neighborhood and initially pursued contemporary dance, ballet, and theater before discovering her passion for rap music in her teens. After participating in early musical projects like the groups Agamenon and Upground, she rose to national prominence with her distinctive style blending hip-hop, electronic beats, and Brazilian rhythms. Her debut album, Batuk Freak, released in 2013, cemented her place in the national music scene and featured hit singles like "Boa Noite".

Throughout her career, Karol Conka has expanded her artistic footprint through international tours, television presenting roles on programs like GNT's Superbonita, and high-profile collaborations with major acts such as Tropkillaz, Projota, and Gloria Groove. Her second studio album, Ambulante, arrived in 2018 under Sony Music Brasil, followed by her third album, Urucum, in 2022. Beyond her musical output, she is widely recognized as a vocal advocate for feminism and social minority rights, engaging deeply with contemporary Brazilian culture alongside peers like Linn da Quebrada and Flora Matos.

Despite facing intense public scrutiny and controversy following her participation in the reality television show Big Brother Brasil in 2021, Conka utilized the experience as a turning point for personal reflection and mental health awareness. She quickly returned to her artistic career, releasing introspective work such as the single "Paredawn" and continuing to push boundaries within Brazilian hip-hop. Her musical identity remains deeply rooted in both international inspirations and rich Brazilian musical traditions, maintaining a powerful voice in the country's modern urban music landscape.
