Biography

Katsbarnea is a pioneering Brazilian Christian rock band formed in São Paulo in January 1988 by Brother Simion and other musicians. Over more than three decades of activity, the group achieved widespread success alongside prominent contemporary acts like Oficina G3, Catedral, Fruto Sagrado, and Resgate, selling over half a million copies in Brazil. Their early career was marked by influential releases such as O Som que Te Faz Girar and critically acclaimed records like Cristo ou Barrabás and the experimental rock masterwork Armagedom.

Following the departure of Brother Simion in 1998 to focus on his solo career, founding members including Paulinho Makuko and Marcelo Gasperini took over the reins to continue the band's legacy. They released commercially successful projects like the live acoustic album Acústico - A Revolução está de volta and later studio works such as A Tinta de Deus. Throughout their history, Katsbarnea has undergone numerous line-up changes while continuing to tour internationally and shape the landscape of Christian rock music in Brazil.
