Kelly Key, stage name of Kelly de Almeida Afonso Freitas, was born in Rio de Janeiro in 1983 and established herself as one of the big names in Brazilian pop music in the 2000s. She began her artistic career on television before bursting onto the radio with the mega-hit "Baba", a track that was part of her self-titled debut album released in 2001. With a danceable pop sound and lyrics marked by the assertion of female sexuality, the singer quickly gained great popularity in Brazil and Portugal, accumulating impressive sales and platinum records.
