Biography

KGB was a Brazilian pop-rock band formed in São Paulo in the mid-1980s. The group gained notoriety for their hit song "Ponte Aérea Pra Shangrilá," released in 1986. Despite their brief period of success, KGB left a mark on the Brazilian music scene of the era.

The band was composed of musicians with prior experience in prominent 1970s Brazilian rock groups. Members included Willie (formerly of Tutti-Frutti), Pisca (formerly of Casa das Máquinas), and Rui Motta (formerly of Mutantes and Barca do Sol). This collective experience contributed to their distinctive sound, which was characterized by new wave ballads.

KGB released a double EP in 1986 under the Barclay label, featuring "Ponte Aérea Pra Shangrilá" as its standout track. Although the band's tenure was short-lived, their music, particularly "Ponte Aérea Pra Shangrilá," remains a nostalgic reminder of the 1980s Brazilian pop-rock landscape. They are often remembered for their ability to blend melodic compositions with a contemporary new wave aesthetic.
