Biography

Christiane Corrêa Tristão, artistically known as Kika Tristão, was born in Rio de Janeiro on March 3, 1964, but was raised in Juiz de Fora, Minas Gerais. She began her artistic journey at a young age by winning the Cataguases Festival in 1980, with singer Sueli Costa as her musical godmother. She moved to Rio de Janeiro upon reaching adulthood to pursue music professionally, studying singing, dance, and theater, and soon joined the vocal group Viva Voz and later the ensemble Be Happy, in addition to establishing an intense career as a backing vocalist for major MPB icons such as Djavan, Milton Nascimento, and Beth Carvalho.

Throughout her career, Kika stood out massively in the soundtrack and voice-dubbing market, recording over 130 song versions for animated productions in Brazil, especially for Disney studios. She lent her singing voice to iconic characters such as Princess Jasmine in Aladdin, Ariel, Pocahontas, and Megara in Hercules — a performance for which she received the award for best Disney dubbing artist in Latin America in 1997. Her artistic versatility also encompassed advertising jingles, soap operas, and guest appearances on albums for important Brazilian music songbooks.
