Biography

Kleber Lucas Costa is one of the most influential names in contemporary Christian music in Brazil, having built a career that bridges congregational music, pop rock, and MPB. Born in São Gonçalo and raised in Niterói, his musical journey took shape in the late 1980s when he moved to Goiânia and joined the group Koinonya. In 1996, he began his solo phase with the album "Rendei Graças", but it was with the albums "Meu Maior Prazer" and "Deus Cuida de Mim" that he achieved national projection, establishing himself as a songwriter of great melodic sensitivity.

Throughout the 2000s, Kleber consolidated his status as an icon of the genre with the album "Aos Pés da Cruz", which featured the collaboration of Roupa Nova members such as Ricardo Feghali and Cleberson Horsth. His search for new sounds led him to experiment with soul and bossa nova arrangements, especially in the project "Comunhão: Para Aqueles que Te Amam", produced by pianist Rafael Vernet. In addition to his artistic facet, Kleber is recognized for his academic and religious work, holding a master's degree and being a Ph.D. student in History at UFRJ, as well as the founding pastor of Soul Igreja Batista in Rio de Janeiro.

His relevance in Brazilian music was ratified by winning the Latin Grammy for Best Christian Music Album in 2013 for the record "Profeta da Esperança". In recent years, Kleber Lucas has sought bridges with other genres of popular music, exemplified by the historic recording of "Deus Cuida de Mim" in partnership with Caetano Veloso. As a producer and songwriter, he has also left his mark on works by artists such as Aline Barros and Fernanda Brum, remaining an active and innovative voice in the gospel scene.
