Biography

Kleiderman was a Brazilian punk rock band formed in 1994 in São Paulo. The group emerged as a side project by Branco Mello and Sérgio Britto, both members of the renowned band Titãs, with the addition of drummer Roberta Parisi. Kleiderman's musical proposal was to present a more aggressive and direct sound, with short songs and mocking lyrics, distancing themselves from the more elaborate style of Titãs. This sound was influenced by grunge, reflecting the musical moment of the time and the Titãs album "Titanomaquia", released the previous year.

Initially, the band was going to be called "Richard Clayderman", in an ironic allusion to the French pianist. However, to avoid legal issues with the manager who held the rights to the name, the band had to change it. The creative solution came from visual artist Fernando Zarif, who covered the name "Richard" on the cover of the album "Con el mundo a mis pies" with a band-aid, resulting in the final name "Kleiderman". The band's only album, "Con el mundo a mis pies", was released in 1994 by Banguela Records and became a cult record of national rock.

Although Kleiderman's existence was brief, the project served as a creative escape valve for Branco Mello and Sérgio Britto, allowing them to experiment with raw and heavier sounds. The band participated in a few shows and TV specials, such as "Romance MTV" in 1995. After this period, Mello and Britto returned fully to their activities with Titãs, leaving Kleiderman as a memory of a fertile period of experimentation in 90s Brazilian rock. Artists like Raimundos and Mundo Livre S/A also had their work released by the Banguela Records label.
