Biography

Kleiton & Kledir is a well-known Brazilian musical duo formed by the gaucho brothers Kleiton Alves Ramil and Kledir Alves Ramil, born in Pelotas. Before establishing their career as a duo, the brothers were members of the prominent band Almôndegas in the 1970s, with which they released four albums and gained national prominence after moving to Rio de Janeiro. Following the end of the group, they launched their independent career in 1980, achieving immediate success and earning gold records alongside international tours.

The duo played a fundamental role in introducing the new music of Rio Grande do Sul to the country's cultural scene, immortalizing a contemporary accent and regional expressions that became symbols of southern Brazil, which earned them the title of cultural ambassadors of Rio Grande do Sul. Throughout their trajectory, their compositions have been recorded by major icons of Brazilian music, such as Simone, Nara Leão, Caetano Veloso, Ivan Lins and MPB4, in addition to family collaborations with their younger brother Vitor Ramil.

After a hiatus in the 1980s and early 1990s, they returned with new albums, award-winning projects such as the children's work Par ou Ímpar, and conceptual albums in partnership with prominent writers. With performances on renowned stages such as the Louvre Museum in Paris and various awards over the years, Kleiton & Kledir remain undisputed references of MPB and Brazilian regional music.
