Biography

Renan Mesquita da Silva, known artistically as Kyan, is a Brazilian rapper who emerged in the music scene starting in 2014. Born in Praia Grande, on the coast of São Paulo, Kyan began his musical journey in funk, being mentored by MC Pedrinho J.R. and starting to write and sing his own songs. Later, influenced by his friend and manager Lucas Zetre, he migrated to trap, adopting the stage name "Kyan" and reinventing his sound.

The partnership with producer MU540 was fundamental to the development of a unique style that blends elements of trap with carioca funk, alongside influences from British grime and drill. This fusion resulted in hits like "Mandrake", "Nós é Ruim e o Cabelo Ajuda", and "Tropa da Lacoste", which solidified him in the national hip hop scene. Kyan also founded the EHXIS collective with the goal of nurturing new underground music talent.

Throughout his career, Kyan has released albums like "UM Quebrada Inteligente" and "Dias Antes de Mandrake", which reached millions of streams and cemented his position as one of the relevant names in Brazilian rap. His music frequently addresses themes related to the community, the periphery, and life experiences, resonating with a broad and engaged audience. Kyan is frequently associated with artists like Tasha & Tracie, Mano Brown, and Djonga, whom he cites as inspirations.
