Biography

Elaine Silva Moreira, better known as Lan Lan, was born in Salvador, Bahia, on May 23, 1968. The percussionist, songwriter, and vocalist began her nationally prominent career as a member of the band Rabo de Saia, later moving to Rio de Janeiro in search of opportunities with the group. Throughout her career, she has established herself as one of the most sought-after instrumentalists in the Brazilian scene, collaborating with renowned names such as Cássia Eller, Carlinhos Brown, Marisa Monte, Nando Reis, and Maria Bethânia.

In addition to her work as a backing percussionist for major icons of MPB and national pop, Lan Lan expanded her artistic endeavors by creating her own projects. She led the band Lan Lan e Os Elaines, whose work culminated in the album "Com Ela", released in 2003. Shortly after, in 2004, she co-founded the band Moinho alongside Emanuelle Araújo and Toni Costa, which blended samba and pop influences and achieved great national success with the hit "Esnoba".

The artist has also spearheaded initiatives such as the Samba Massa project, carried out in partnership with musician Sambê, reinforcing her versatility as a songwriter and percussionist. With a rich discography spanning studio albums and live recordings with Moinho, as well as notable collaborations with Cássia Eller and Nando Reis, Lan Lan remains a fundamental figure in percussion and the renewal of contemporary Brazilian popular music.
