Biography

Laura Souguellis is a prominent Brazilian contemporary Christian music singer and songwriter, born in Campinas, São Paulo. Raised in a household that fostered an early appreciation for the arts, she showed a deep interest in music and poetry from a young age, influenced significantly by her mother who played both the piano and guitar. Tragedy marked her youth with the sudden passing of her father when she was thirteen and her mother when she was sixteen, experiences that deeply shaped her early maturity and emotional depth as an artist.

Before launching her widespread musical career, Souguellis lived in various cities across Brazil, dedicating herself to local church music ministries and working as an English teacher and translator. Her national breakthrough occurred in 2013 when she was invited to perform at the Fornalha Dunamis, part of the Dunamis Movement. During these gatherings, she gained immense recognition across Brazil for her emotive vocals and songwriting, notably recording the Portuguese version of the worship anthem "Holy Spirit" and performing original compositions such as "Em Teus Braços".

Over the years, she has expanded her discography with acclaimed releases like Canções de Identidade e Filiação and collaborations with international and domestic worship collectives like UPPERROOM and Dunamis Music. Her musical style shares thematic and stylistic similarities with other notable figures in the Brazilian gospel scene, such as Ana Paula Valadão and Diante do Trono. Today, she remains a central figure in Brazilian worship music, known for deeply reflective lyrics and heartfelt congregational songs.
