Laurinha Arantes is a pioneering Brazilian singer, actress, and producer, widely recognized as the first woman to lead a trio elétrico in Salvador's Carnival.

Her career began in 1983 when she took the helm of the Cheiro de Amor bloc, a groundbreaking moment that paved the way for other female artists to lead parades in the iconic Salvador celebration. Arantes was initially part of the band Pimenta de Cheiro, which later evolved into Cheiro de Amor. She also lent her voice to the group Novos Bárbaros, where she achieved a significant hit with the song "Pipoca Louca." Her influence extends beyond her performances, as she is credited with breaking down barriers and challenging the male-dominated landscape of Carnival music.

Throughout her career, Arantes has been celebrated for her vibrant energy and significant contributions to Bahian music.
