Biography

Leandro Sapucahy da Silva was born in Rio de Janeiro and had his first contact with music in childhood, directly influenced by his family environment. His mother brought the popular sound of Rádio Nacional with great intonation and swing, while his father appreciated the bossa nova aesthetic, with references to names like João Gilberto and Leny Andrade. In his teens, he began his professional career on stage and ended up dedicating himself to percussion, also exploring genres like MPB and rock before consolidating his career in the samba scene.

As a music producer and percussionist, Leandro left his mark on several key Brazilian samba albums, working behind the scenes and in recording studios. This long-standing experience allowed him to accumulate compositions and mature his own style, culminating in the release of his debut album, "Cotidiano". The work featured major exponents of the genre, such as Zeca Pagodinho and Arlindo Cruz, in addition to partnerships with artists from rap and street samba like Marcelo D2.

His musical ideology seeks to unite quality rigor with lyrics that address both daily life and hope, as well as social and political criticism, keeping samba as the central axis, but adding heavy and reflective elements. Moving away from obvious formulas, the artist uses his work to value reference composers and keep the essence of Brazilian popular music alive.
