Biography

Lenilton José da Silva is a Brazilian contemporary Christian music singer, songwriter, and musician born in Rio de Janeiro. He began his artistic journey at an early age in a boarding school band and later served in the Brazilian Air Force before dedicating his life to religious music. In 1982, alongside Alex Gonzaga, he co-founded the influential evangelical group Novo Som, serving as the band's primary songwriter and shaping the sound of Brazilian gospel music through numerous successful albums.

Following his departure from Novo Som in 2002, Lenilton continued to be a prominent figure in the Christian music scene by establishing other musical projects such as Rota 33 and the supergroup KSLV. Throughout his career, he has collaborated with notable artists like Val Martins and Cristina Mel, and released celebratory collaborative albums like Para Sempre: Lenilton & Amigos. His enduring contributions to Christian pop and ballad compositions have earned him recognition in the Dicionário Cravo Albin da Música Popular Brasileira.
