Biography

Leo Cavalcanti is a Brazilian singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and arranger born in São Paulo. Growing up in a musical environment, he was exposed to diverse sounds from an early age, ranging from flamenco and pop to traditional Brazilian rhythms. By his teens, he was already performing professionally alongside his father, Péricles Cavalcanti, and later joined the backing band of the children's music project Palavra Cantada.

Expanding his artistic endeavors, Cavalcanti formed his first band, Xanduzinha, to celebrate the rich traditions of forró. Over the years, he built a solid reputation in the independent music scene through solo performances, musical direction for theatrical projects, and award-winning songwriting. In 2010, he released his debut solo album, Religar, which established his unique voice in contemporary Brazilian popular music, followed by his second album, Despertador, in 2014.

Throughout his career, Cavalcanti has collaborated with various artists across the Brazilian musical landscape, including contributions to projects by musicians like Martin. His work seamlessly blends traditional Brazilian genres like forró with modern songwriting sensibilities, cementing his place as a versatile and innovative figure in modern MPB.
