Biography

Léo Maia, born Márcio Leonardo Gomes da Silva in Rio de Janeiro, is a prominent Brazilian singer, songwriter, and guitarist. Growing up in a deeply musical environment as the adopted son of the legendary soul icon Tim Maia, he was immersed in the rich sounds of Brazilian soul, funk, and MPB from early childhood. His musical education was profoundly shaped by artists associated with his father's band, such as Cassiano and Paulinho Guitarra, laying the foundation for his own distinct style that blends traditional Brazilian rhythms with contemporary soul and gospel influences.

Throughout his career, Léo Maia has released multiple albums that showcase his versatility across genres like samba-soul and gospel. His debut album, Cavalo de Jorge, arrived in 2005, followed by subsequent projects including Cidadão do Bem, Sopro do Dragão, and later transitionary works such as his gospel album Rei do Baile. Aside from his studio discography, he has expanded his presence into television, appearing on reality shows and continuing his father's musical legacy while carving out a unique path within the Brazilian music scene.
