Biography

Leonardo Middea de Jesus, professionally known as Leo Middea, is a Brazilian MPB singer, songwriter, and instrumentalist, born on April 27, 1995, in Rio de Janeiro. His music is characterized by the fusion of traditional Brazilian rhythms such as bossa nova, samba, and folk with contemporary international influences. Middea has released six studio albums and performed in over 18 countries, consolidating his presence both in Brazil and in Europe, where he has resided for several years, dividing his time between Lisbon and Barcelona.

His musical career began in 2014 with his debut album "Dois", which led him to perform 23 shows across Argentina. International recognition intensified over the years, culminating in 2024 when he became the first Brazilian artist to reach the final of Portugal's Festival da Canção, achieving second place. His work has been described as a celebration of life, identity, and Brazilian culture, crossing borders and connecting diverse audiences.

Middea is known for his intimate performances, often in a voice and acoustic guitar format, which highlight the raw emotion and poetic essence of his compositions. He cites influences such as Gilberto Gil, Caetano Veloso, and Jorge Ben Jor, alongside the tradition of Tropicália and samba-canção. His most recent work, "Notícias de Puglia" (2026), was composed and recorded during his tours, reflecting his journey as an "ambassador of Brazilian music" in the world.
