He began his musical career in 1990 as the vocalist for the samba group Família Roitman, which was instrumental in the revival of samba de raiz (root samba) in Rio de Janeiro's music scene. With Família Roitman, Tomassini released two albums: "O samba nas regras da arte" in 1995 and "Coisa da antiga" in 1999. The group's work contributed to the revitalization of the Lapa neighborhood and supported numerous samba musicians.

His 2013 album, "Arpoador," features collaborations with prominent Brazilian artists such as Caetano Veloso, Guinga, Pedro Sá, Rubinho Jacobina, and Cristóvão Bastos, with production by Dany Roland. The album "Arpoador" is noted for its bossa nova influences and its exploration of themes related to time and creation, drawing inspiration from the iconic Rio de Janeiro landmark.
