Biography

Leonardo Sullivan, artistic name of Iveraldo de Souza Lima, was born in Vicência on April 17, 1947. He is a renowned Brazilian singer and songwriter dedicated to romantic music, having built a solid recording career that began to stand out in the late 1970s and spanned decades, with dozens of albums released. Throughout his career, he recorded under the artistic name Leonardo before adopting the surname Sullivan in 2002, in honor of his brother Michael Sullivan.

The artist cemented his name in the Brazilian music scene through major hits and compositions recorded by various nationally prominent interpreters, such as Fafá de Belém, José Augusto, and Zélia Duncan. Among his most striking works are tracks like Memórias and Meu Dilema, in addition to being the original interpreter of the famous song Mãe, um Pedaço do Céu. His strong connection to the romantic repertoire and popular music led him to branch out into different genres, including an album dedicated to gospel music in 2002, titled O Sol da Minha Estrada.

His contribution to Pernambucan and Brazilian culture and music was formally recognized over the years, culminating in the recording of a live DVD at Marco Zero in Recife in 2007 and receiving the title of Honorary Citizen of Recife in 2012.
