Biography
Lincoln Cheib is a highly respected Brazilian drummer and percussionist, born in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, in 1965. He is recognized as one of the most influential musicians in Brazil, known for his extensive work in instrumental music and jazz. Cheib has collaborated with numerous renowned Brazilian artists throughout his career, notably being a long-time musical partner of Milton Nascimento, with whom he performed until Nascimento's final musical sessions. His drumming is characterized by its mastery of rhythms, particularly within the context of Milton Nascimento's extensive discography.
Beyond his work with Nascimento, Cheib has participated in hundreds of recordings and performed internationally. He is also known for his involvement in significant instrumental projects, such as the album "Três/Three" (2000) with bassist Nico Assumpção and guitarist Nelson Faria, a project that celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2024. Cheib's musical journey is marked by a deep connection to the instrumental music scene in Brazil, often performing in jazz festivals and collaborating with peers like Juarez Moreira and André Dequech. In addition to his musical career, Cheib is also a professor and a black belt in Jiu-Jitsu, showcasing a multifaceted life beyond the stage.
