Biography

Lixomania is a pioneering Brazilian punk rock band formed in 1979 in the Lauzane Paulista neighborhood of São Paulo. Originally consisting of Adauto "Adá" on bass, Tikinho on guitar and vocals, and Zú on drums, the group was heavily inspired by international punk icons such as the Sex Pistols, Ramones, and The Clash. After a few early line-up changes and legendary underground gigs alongside peers like Inocentes and Cólera, the band released their landmark triple EP "Violência e Sobrevivência" in 1982, marking the first independent record by a punk band in Brazil.

Throughout the early 1980s, Lixomania expanded their reach beyond São Paulo, performing at historic venues like the Circo Voador in Rio de Janeiro and participating in seminal festivals such as "O Começo do Fim do Mundo". Despite turning down a major label contract with RCA that demanded stylistic compromises, internal changes and turbulent live events led to an initial hiatus in March 1983. During this period, members also contributed to other notable Brazilian underground acts like Psykóze.

The band made a triumphant return to the active scene in October 2002 for the "O Fim do Mundo" festival in São Paulo, reuniting their classic line-up. This revival sparked renewed creative energy, leading to the release of their studio album "Não, Obrigado!" in 2005 and a self-titled EP of new material in 2024. Today, Lixomania remains an enduring and essential pillar of the Brazilian punk rock movement.
