Biography

Antônio Marcos Lopes de Souza, widely known as Loro Jones, is a prominent Brazilian musician, composer, and music producer. Born in Rio de Janeiro, he moved to Brasília during his youth, where he eventually became a key figure in the burgeoning Brazilian rock scene of the 1980s. Before achieving national stardom, he played in the pioneering Brasília band Blitz 64.

In 1982, Loro Jones co-founded the iconic rock band Capital Inicial alongside brothers Fê Lemos and Flávio Lemos. During his tenure as the band's lead guitarist, he co-wrote major hits such as "Independência," "Leve Desespero," and "Cai a Noite." His distinctive guitar work helped define the band's energetic sound until his departure in late 2001, after which he pursued other musical endeavors, including releasing solo material produced by David Z.

Deeply rooted in the history of Brasília rock, Loro Jones shares a musical legacy with contemporaries like Marcelo Bonfá of Legião Urbana and Renato Russo. His contributions to Capital Inicial cemented his status as one of the definitive guitarists of his generation in Brazilian rock music.
