Biography
Los Hermanos is a Brazilian rock band formed in Rio de Janeiro in 1997. The original lineup featured Marcelo Camelo (vocals/guitar/bass), Rodrigo Amarante (guitar/bass/vocals), Rodrigo Barba (drums), and Bruno Medina (keyboards/keyboard bass). The band gained national notoriety in the late 1990s with the success of the single "Anna Júlia", which boosted sales of their self-titled debut album, released in 1999. The group's initial sound mixed influences of rock, ska, and samba, with lyrics reminiscent of the Jovem Guarda style, which resonated strongly with the young audience of the time.
Following the commercial success of their first album, Los Hermanos surprised the public and critics with "Bloco do Eu Sozinho" (2001), which presented a more experimental and mature sound, blending MPB, samba, and Latin rhythms with rock. This change in artistic direction, although it generated commercial ups and downs, solidified the band's reputation as an innovative alternative rock act in Brazil. Subsequent albums like "Ventura" (2003) and "4" (2005) continued to explore this genre fusion, receiving acclaim from specialized critics and building a loyal fan base.
The band announced an indefinite hiatus in April 2007, citing the need for each member to pursue personal projects. During this period, Marcelo Camelo began a solo career, and Rodrigo Amarante formed the duo Little Joy. Despite the hiatus, Los Hermanos have held sporadic reunions for concerts, keeping the connection with their admirers alive. The influence of Los Hermanos on the Brazilian music scene is undeniable, being considered a milestone in national alternative rock, with elaborate lyrics and a rich blend of Brazilian rhythms with international influences.
