Biography

Lourenço & Lourival, whose real names are Arlindo Cassol (Lourenço) and Antônio Cassol (Lourival), are a Brazilian sertanejo duo formed in 1956 in Ribeirão Preto, São Paulo. The brothers, sons of farmers, began their artistic careers in their adolescence, singing on Radio 79 in Ribeirão Preto under the names Maurinho and Toninho. In 1959, they moved to São Paulo to further their careers, performing on various radio stations and eventually earning the nickname "as vozes de cristal" (the crystal voices) while working at Radio Record.

Throughout their extensive career, Lourenço & Lourival have released over 30 LPs on the Chantecler label and 15 titles on RGE, with many of their songs becoming classics of Brazilian sertanejo music. Some of their most famous hits include "Canga do Tempo," "Noite Inesquecível," "Mulher do Mistério," "O Diploma e o Chapéu," "Se Ainda Existe Amor," and "Meu Reino Encantado." Their music is characterized by romantic themes and the traditional style of "música sertaneja de raiz" (root country music), often telling stories that resonate deeply with their audience.

Recognized for their humility and kindness, Lourenço & Lourival have garnered a loyal fanbase across Brazil and even internationally. They have continued to tour and record, releasing new material and re-recording their classics. In recognition of their significant contributions to Brazilian music, they were honored with the title "Cidadãos Ribeirãopretanos" in 1997. Their enduring legacy is a testament to their talent and dedication to preserving the authentic sound of Brazilian sertanejo.
