Biography

LS Jack is a prominent Brazilian rock and pop rock band formed in 1997 in Rio de Janeiro. Originally established as L'Acid Jazz by a group of music students from Universidade Estácio de Sá, the lineup featured Marcus Menna on lead vocals and acoustic guitar, Sérgio Morel, Sérgio Ferreira, Vitor Queiroz, Alessandro Barros, and Bicudo. Inspired by international acid jazz acts, they soon shortened their name and signed with Indie Records, releasing their self-titled debut album in 1999, which featured collaborations with artists like Vinny and Rogério Flausino of Jota Quest.

The group achieved massive nationwide success with their 2002 third album, V.I.B.E.: Vibrações Inteligentes Beneficiando a Existência, driven by blockbuster radio hits such as "Carla" and "Uma Carta." Their subsequent release, Tudo Outra Vez, solidified their mainstream appeal under the guidance of producer Rick Bonadio, yielding hits like "Sem Radar." However, tragedy struck in July 2004 when original frontman Marcus Menna suffered a severe cardiac arrest during a cosmetic procedure, plunging the group into an indefinite hiatus as Menna embarked on a long, arduous recovery.

After years of dormancy and occasional reunion efforts—including a stint featuring Fábio Allman and later a commemorative tour with Menna—the band returned in 2020 with singer Vinny taking over lead vocals. Following an EP release and a 25th-anniversary tour, Vinny departed in 2023 due to vocal strain, paving the way for the core instrumentalists to continue the legacy of one of Brazil's most recognizable turn-of-the-millennium pop rock acts, alongside contemporaries like Os Paralamas do Sucesso and Titãs.
