Biography
Luana Leal de Carvalho was born in Rio de Janeiro and has built a solid career in Brazilian music and literature. The daughter of renowned singer Beth Carvalho and footballer Édson Cegonha, she began her relationship with art in her teens, when she sang backing vocals for her mother for three years. Later, she graduated in performing arts and literature from PUC-Rio, expanding her work into poetry and playwriting.
As a songwriter and performer, Luana stood out by releasing acclaimed works such as the double album "Branco | Sul", produced in partnership with Moreno Veloso, and the albums "Baile de Máscara" and "Segue o Baile", both produced by Kassin. Her talent as a lyricist earned her a nomination for the Brazilian Music Award in 2012 with the song "Arrasta Sandália", composed in partnership with Dayse do Banjo and recorded by Beth Carvalho and Zeca Pagodinho. In addition, her compositions and artistic performances have extended to theater and television.
Alongside her musical career, Luana has had her poetry published in anthologies organized by names such as Adriana Calcanhotto, Ramon Nunes Mello, and Katia Maciel. She also works in cultural and audiovisual production, having participated as an associate producer on the documentary project about her mother and been involved with artistic direction in literary festivals. Her movement between MPB, samba, and contemporary poetry consolidates her name in the national artistic scene.
