Biography

Lucas Silva de Souza, known artistically as Lucas Souza, was born in Vitória, Espírito Santo, on November 16, 1982. He built a prominent career in Brazilian music as a singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, arranger, and music producer. In the early 2000s, he founded Lucas Souza Banda, which became a benchmark for alternative rock within the contemporary Christian music scene, releasing landmark records such as the debut album Capturado and the acclaimed Cidade do Amor.

Throughout his solo career, Lucas collaborated with several major names in national music, including guest appearances by Heloisa Rosa and creative partnerships with artists like Rodolfo Abrantes, Juliano Son, and Marcos Almeida. His work with the highest critical acclaim was the album Cidade do Amor, released in 2009 with influences of britpop and indie rock, whose mastering took place at the legendary Abbey Road studios. In 2012, he concluded his phase as a solo singer with the ambitious live project Revolução de Jesus, announcing the end of his activities with the band the following year.

After concluding his trajectory in religious music, Lucas began working decisively on the career of his brother, the singer Silva, taking on roles as a songwriter, instrumentalist, and manager. Together, they shaped striking sonic aesthetics on Silva's albums and carried out highly prestigious collaborations, such as the composition "Noturna (Nada de Novo na Noite)", co-written with Marisa Monte. With a solid musical background spanning piano, saxophone, violin, and acoustic guitar, Lucas cemented his name behind the scenes and in the authorship of contemporary MPB.
