Biography
Lucia Helena Carvalho e Silva, artistically known as Lucina, was born in Cuiabá on December 25, 1950. A singer, songwriter, and acoustic guitarist, she began her artistic journey in her teens as a self-taught musician, initially standing out in Rio de Janeiro by joining Grupo Manifesto in 1967. With the group, she participated in important festivals and recorded her first LPs, in addition to hosting television programs.
Between 1971 and 1998, she formed the celebrated duo Luli e Lucina alongside Luhli, consolidating a fundamental partnership for independent Brazilian music and composing hundreds of songs recorded by major interpreters like Ney Matogrosso and Nana Caymmi. After the end of the duo, Lucina pursued a solo career, releasing acclaimed albums such as Inteira pra Mim, A Música em Mim, and Canto de Árvore, in addition to maintaining striking partnerships with artists like Zélia Duncan.
