Biography
Luciane Dom is a Brazilian singer and songwriter originally from Paraíba do Sul and based in Rio de Janeiro. Before fully dedicating herself to music, she earned a degree in History from the Rio de Janeiro State University (UERJ), combining her academic background in social research with artistic expression. Her work often bridges theoretical history and performance art, addressing racial themes and social dynamics in Brazil.
In 2018, she released her debut album, Liberte esse Banzo, which translates her historical research on the concept of "banzo" and Black thought in Brazilian society into song. Following this release, she expanded her career beyond national borders, performing internationally at festivals and cultural showcases such as Onebeat and Brasil Summerfest in the United States, IMESUR and La Makinita in Chile, B.L.A.C Festival in Canada, and American Music Abroad in Colombia. Her growing global profile was further recognized when she won the Rising Star of the Year award at the African Entertainment Awards USA in New York City in 2022.
Alongside her solo music career, Luciane has collaborated with prominent artists like Luedji Luna and Liniker, and she expanded into theater by acting in the 2023 musical production of Viva o Povo Brasileiro directed by André Paes Leme. Through her music, international touring, and stage work, she continues to establish herself as a prominent contemporary voice in Brazilian independent music.
