Biography

Ludov is a Brazilian alternative rock band formed in São Paulo in 2003 by Vanessa Krongold, Mauro Motoki, Paulo Rocha, and Habacuque Lima. The band emerged from the ashes of the group Maybees, deciding to transition from singing in English to composing exclusively in Portuguese under a new moniker inspired by Stanley Kubrick's A Clockwork Orange. Throughout their career, they have released notable records such as their debut album O Exercício das Pequenas Coisas in 2005, Disco Paralelo, Caligrafia, and Miragem.

Their distinct sound quickly gained traction in the Brazilian independent scene, earning them recognition at MTV Brasil's Video Music Awards where they won the award for Best Independent Music Video with the track "Princesa". Over the years, Ludov expanded their presence by performing at major events like the Lollapalooza festival in São Paulo and opening for international acts. Members of the band have also collaborated or toured with prominent Brazilian acts including Ira!, Pato Fu, and Penélope.

The group's current lineup features Vanessa Krongold on lead vocals and acoustic guitar, Habacuque Lima on guitar, bass, and vocals, Mauro Motoki on guitar, keyboard, bass, and vocals, and Paulo Rocha on drums. While maintaining their foundational indie rock style, they have continued to innovate through independent EPs and crowdfunded vinyl releases. Their enduring creative output remains a staple of modern Brazilian alternative music.
