Biography
Luhli, the artistic name of Heloisa Orosco Borges da Fonseca, was born in Rio de Janeiro and stood out in the Brazilian music scene as a singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist. Her artistic journey is marked by strong autonomy and fundamental contributions to MPB, including the historical fact of having introduced Ney Matogrosso to Secos e Molhados, making the band's classic lineup possible. Alongside João Ricardo, she also co-authored major hit songs, such as "O Vira" and "Fala".
Between 1972 and 1996, she was part of the renowned duo Luli e Lucina, becoming a pioneer of independent music in Brazil during the 1970s, a period when she produced albums and tours without any backing from major record labels. The project consolidated a striking discography with albums such as "Luli & Lucinha" and "Amor de Mulher / Yorimatã". Concurrently with and following the partnership, Luhli built a solid solo career, releasing praised works like "Todo Céu Para Voar", "Luhli", and "Música Nova".
The artist passed away in Nova Friburgo, leaving a legacy of resistance and inventiveness within national popular music. Her work dialogues with the most authorial and poetic strand of MPB, approaching the artistic sensibility of names like Ney Matogrosso. Luhli remained active in the creation and dissemination of her art until her final years of life.
