Biography
Luisão Pereira was a prominent Brazilian musician, composer, and music producer born in Juazeiro, Bahia. A musical son of the Bahian scene, he had early contact with music through his uncle Ederaldo Gentil and formed his first rock projects in childhood and adolescence, such as the punk band Conjuntivite and Metalúgica, before moving to Salvador in the 1980s to found the group Cravo Negro.
In the 90s, he achieved national projection by joining the band Penélope, with which he recorded albums for Sony Music Brasil, accumulated nominations for the MTV Video Music Brasil and the Multishow Award, and toured all over the country. As a composer and producer, he was involved with major names in national music such as Los Hermanos, Nação Zumbi, and Elza Soares, in addition to composing soundtracks for film, television, and theater.
In his later trajectory, he stood out with the independent project Nota de um samba só and, alongside cellist Fernanda Monteiro, founded the duo Dois em Um, internationally released and critically acclaimed with albums that featured guest appearances such as Tulipa Ruiz. Luisão passed away in Salvador in 2024, leaving an indelible legacy in the production of rock and alternative music in Bahia and Brazil.
