Biography

Luiz Flavio Alcofra is a prominent Brazilian guitarist, composer, and arranger born in Rio de Janeiro on November 3, 1961. He holds a degree in Music from UNIRIO and a Master's degree in Art Science from UFF. Alcofra has also pursued a PhD in Music Documentation and History from UNIRIO. His extensive academic background complements his rich musical career.

Alcofra's pedagogical contributions are significant. He has been a professor of guitar and ensemble practice at the Escola Portátil de Música in Rio de Janeiro since 2006. Additionally, he has served as a substitute professor of popular guitar and ensemble practice at UNIRIO. His dedication to teaching has shaped numerous aspiring musicians.

As a performer and composer, Alcofra has been an active participant in various influential Brazilian music groups. He is a member of the acclaimed instrumental group Água de Moringa, which won the Sharp Award for Best Instrumental Group in 1998. He has also been part of Terno Carioca, Quarteto Alevare, Conjunto Época de Ouro, and Cordão do Boitatá, among others. His discography includes solo albums such as "Fotografia" (2012) and "Tresvarios" (2013), as well as numerous collaborations with renowned artists like Marcos Sacramento, Mariana Baltar, and Lena Verani.
