Born in Marília, São Paulo, in 1946, Luiz Araújo Amorim, known as Luizinho 7 Cordas, is a highly respected Brazilian guitarist celebrated for his mastery of the seven-string guitar. His musical journey began in Santos, where his father, a cavaquinho and guitar player, fostered his early interest in music. Luizinho's talent was evident from a young age, leading him to formal studies and eventually to become a prominent figure in the choro and samba scenes.

Luizinho 7 Cordas is renowned for his technical prowess, particularly his skillful execution of "baixarias" (bass lines) and "contrapontos" (counter-melodies) on the seven-string guitar.
