Biography

Machete Bomb is a Brazilian musical group hailing from Curitiba, Paraná, known for pioneering a distinct fusion of samba-rock, hip hop, and rock and roll. Led by founder and cavaquinho player Otávio "Madu" Madureira, the band developed a sound heavily influenced by alternative acts like Mundo Livre S/A, aiming to use protest music to challenge societal preconceptions and highlight the rebellious roots of samba in Brazil.

Since their formation, the group has released a robust catalog of studio albums, beginning with their expansive 2015 debut O Samba do Sul, followed by A Saga do Cavaco Profano in 2017. Their 2020 release, MXT Comvida, emerged as a deeply personal project spearheaded by Madu after a period of personal loss, featuring collaborations with numerous prominent Brazilian artists including BNegão, Odair José, and members of Francisco, el Hombre and Mulamba.

Over the years, Machete Bomb has continuously expanded their artistic footprint through diverse projects, including acoustic releases, live albums recorded at festivals like Psicodália, and remix collections such as Vendendo a Alma ao Diabo. Their lineup features vocalists Theo "Thestrow" Willyan Santos and Alessandro "Alienação Afrofuturista" Ramos da Cunha alongside percussionist Priscilla Link and drummer Leandro "Kiko" Souza, solidifying their reputation as a dynamic force in the contemporary Brazilian underground scene.
