Biography
Ana Cláudia Lomelino Gonçalves, known artistically as Mãeana, was born in Rio de Janeiro on October 7, 1985. She began her musical career in 2007 as the lead vocalist of the band Tono, with which she released three albums. Her solo trajectory began in 2015 with the release of the CD "Mãeana", which featured unreleased compositions by renowned Brazilian artists such as Caetano Veloso and Adriana Calcanhotto. The artist is also known for her performative facet, which integrates visual and scenic elements into her performances, seeking a broader interpretation of her work.
Mãeana stands out for her eclectic sound, which transitions between pop, MPB, alternative music, and experimental music. Her music is inspired by tropicalism and female strength, exploring themes such as motherhood, love, ufology, and cosmic universes. In 2016, she collaborated with singer Serena Assumpção and released her first live DVD, "Mãeana no MAM". The artist has also carried out collaborative tours, such as "Letrux e Mãeana Cantam Bruxas", and projects that reinterpret works by other artists, such as "Mãeana Canta Xuxa".
In 2022, Mãeana moved with her family to Salvador, Bahia. Her most recent work, "Mãeana canta JG" (2024), which unites references from João Gilberto and João Gomes, has been acclaimed by critics and the public alike, generating a fusion of rhythms that she dubbed "pisa nova". The artist is married to musician Bem Gil, son of Gilberto Gil, with whom she has two children, Sereno and Dom. Mãeana is also a visual artist, and her visual identity is an integral part of her artistic expression.
