Biography

Makalister Antunes, artistically known as Makalister, is a rapper and music producer born in São José, Santa Catarina, on February 6, 1994. He stands out in the contemporary Brazilian rap scene for his complex lyrics, cinematic and literary references, and a sound that traverses various branches of the genre, also incorporating elements of other musical styles. His work is marked by profound reflection on society, late capitalism, and human experiences, often exploring the "aesthetics of insomnia" in his compositions.

His career gained prominence starting in the mid-2010s, with releases such as the EP "A Terça Parte da Noite" (2016) and the album "Mal dos Trópikos" (2018). Makalister also participated in highly visible projects in the national rap scene, such as "Poetas no Topo", which solidified his reputation as an artist with great lyrical and artistic potential. Throughout his trajectory, he has demonstrated an unmatched ability to blend diverse musical influences, including 1960s and 70s MPB, into his work, breaking away from the common sense of rap.

In recent years, Makalister has experienced a moment of growing recognition, with commemorative tours such as the "Tour da Dékada", celebrating his ten-year career, and the release of albums like "dEPOIS dE sOBREVIVER qUERO vIVER dEPOIS dE vIVER qUERO eXISTIR" (2026). His music, although sometimes considered complex, has reached an increasingly larger audience that identifies with his narratives and his unique way of expressing worldviews. The artist demonstrates a strong bond with his origins and passions, such as soccer, which is also reflected in his art.
