Biography

Mallu Magalhães is a Brazilian singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist born in São Paulo. She emerged as a prominent internet phenomenon in the late 2000s, gaining widespread recognition as a teenager after sharing her self-composed songs on MySpace. Influenced by classic rock, folk, and MPB, she quickly transitioned from an acoustic bedroom artist to touring with a professional band and performing at major Brazilian music festivals.

Throughout her career, Magalhães has released multiple acclaimed solo albums and co-founded the successful group Banda do Mar alongside Marcelo Camelo and Fred Pinto Ferreira. Her musical style has evolved over the years, incorporating elements of indie folk, pop rock, tropicália, and traditional samba. She has collaborated and shared stages with renowned Brazilian artists such as Tom Zé, Dado Villa-Lobos, and Gal Costa, cementing her status as a versatile and sophisticated force in contemporary Brazilian music.

In addition to her extensive discography, she has expanded her artistic output into children's literature and independent record production. Her later works, including albums like Vem and Esperança, showcase her maturing poetic voice and deep connection to the acoustic warmth of 1960s bossa nova. Her contributions have earned her critical acclaim and recognition across both Brazil and Portugal.
