Biography

Carlos Alberto Ribeiro, better known as Mangabinha, was born in Corinto, Minas Gerais, on March 16, 1942. In his childhood, he worked as an itinerant rural laborer and, at eight years of age, began playing an eight-bass accordion hidden from his father, keeping his family's musical tradition alive. By the 1950s, he began his artistic journey performing at traditional parties and dances with an eighty-bass accordion.

In 1970, the accordionist moved to Belo Horizonte and joined a trio alongside the duo Gino & Geno, with whom he recorded an LP. Later, in 1973, he joined members who had left the duo Delmir & Delmon to found the famous group Trio Parada Dura, where he remained throughout his entire life as one of the pillars of the lineup and main accordionist, sharing the stage with striking artists like Barrerito.

Over decades dedicated to traditional sertanejo music, Mangabinha consolidated his name on the national scene at the helm of Trio Parada Dura, renewing partnerships with various musicians until his final days. The artist passed away on April 23, 2015, in Belo Horizonte, victim of a heart attack resulting from diabetes complications.
