Biography

Emmanuel Góes Boavista, better known as Manno Góes, is a prominent Brazilian composer, writer, singer, and bassist born in Salvador, Bahia. He began his artistic journey playing in local bars at the age of eighteen before embarking on a professional career in the early 1990s. Over the decades, he has established himself as a central figure in Brazilian popular music, particularly within the axé and pop-rock scenes, collaborating with numerous renowned national artists and writing chart-topping hits.

Manno gained widespread national recognition as the bassist and principal songwriter for the successful band Jammil e Uma Noites, which he co-founded in 1997 after playing with Jheremmias Não Bate Corner. During his tenure with Jammil, he composed massive hits such as "Praieiro," "Celebrar," and "Ê Saudade." In addition to his work with the group, he has written songs for major artists like Daniela Mercury, Netinho, Claudia Leitte, and Chiclete com Banana, while also venturing into pop-rock with his 2009 solo album "E Assim os Dias Vão" and co-founding the musical collective Alavontê.

Beyond his musical achievements, Manno Góes is also an established author, having published his first book, "Acarajé Bour Mecier," in 2014. He has maintained an active role in cultural administration, serving on the board of directors of UBC (União Brasileira de Compositores), and contributes a weekly sports column for the newspaper A Tarde in Salvador. His diverse career highlights his enduring impact on Bahia's cultural landscape and the broader spectrum of Brazilian music.
