Biography

Mãos Fúnebres is a Brazilian post-punk and darkwave band, formed in Campina Grande, Paraíba, in 2017. It emerged from remnants of an old darkwave band called Segredos de Maio, seeking to consolidate its own sound identity in the independent music scene. The band stands out for its production focused on the creation, dissemination, and circulation of original music, exploring dark and introspective themes in its compositions.

Mãos Fúnebres' first original work was the demo "Segredos Nervosos", released in early 2018, which featured the participation of Ignor Figueiredo on guitars. In 2019, the band's lineup was solidified with Fabiano Quaresma on vocals and guitar, LowRhahn on guitar, and Walber Wander on bass and programming. This lineup allowed the band to deepen its sound, marked by strong influences from 1980s music and a strong post-punk vein.

The band's discography includes singles and albums such as "O Tempo Urge" (2021) and "U.T.I." (2024), which reaffirm the group's aesthetic proposal. Despite having announced its end in August 2026, Mãos Fúnebres left a legacy in the Brazilian underground scene, with a sound that dialogues with artists like the duo Molchat Doma, exploring the dense and melancholic atmosphere of post-punk and darkwave.
