Biography

Maquinado is the name of a musical project led by Lúcio Maia, a prominent Brazilian guitarist known for his work with Nação Zumbi.

Maia conceived Maquinado as an outlet for musical ideas that might not fit within the Nação Zumbi's established sound. The project's debut album, "O Homem Binário," released in 2004, explores a more electronic and experimental direction, incorporating "heady, distorted, and Brazilian and regional elements." While Maia's guitar is present, it often takes a backseat, layered with effects and serving as a supporting element to other sonic textures. The album features collaborations with other musicians, including Siba on "Alados" and a significant portion of the Nação Zumbi members on "O Som."

"O Homem Binário" is characterized by its intricate beats and creative arrangements, blending electronic music with Brazilian influences. Some tracks lean towards a more visceral sound, while others delve into electronic and exotic territories.
