Biography
Marcelle Motta is a Brazilian singer and songwriter born in Juiz de Fora, Minas Gerais, on October 24, 1985. She moved to Rio de Janeiro at a young age and developed a passion for samba, which became her primary musical genre. Motta began her professional career at the age of 20, initially singing MPB and pop-rock classics with the band Ecos Imortais. However, her immersion in Rio's samba circles led her to dedicate herself fully to the genre, studying its roots and various styles.
Motta founded the group Samba Urbano in 2009, which was mentored by the renowned samba group Fundo de Quintal. In 2011, she won the "Dorina Ponto Samba – ano Mário Lago" award for Revelation. She also won the "Novos Bambas do Velho Samba" contest in 2010. Her collaborations include "Reencontro - Ao Vivo" with Renato da Rocinha and "Pra Matar Preconceito" with the collective É Preta, which became an anthem for a generation of female sambistas.
In 2014, Marcelle Motta launched her solo career, further establishing her presence in the samba scene. She is recognized for her powerful voice and interpretation, and she has shared the stage with numerous established artists such as Elza Soares, Alcione, and Diogo Nogueira.
