Biography

Marcelo Aguiar is a Brazilian contemporary Christian singer and politician born in São Paulo. He began his musical journey as a child prodigy, winning first place as a contestant on Raul Gil's television program at the age of eight and later launching a successful career in sertaneja music. During his country music years, he earned recognition with the Sharp Award for Male Revelation in Popular Brazilian Music and achieved massive radio success with hits composed by artists like Zezé Di Camargo. He also participated in agricultural fairs and even tried his hand at acting in a television soap opera before shifting his artistic direction.

Following his conversion to Protestantism in 2000, Marcelo Aguiar transitioned into contemporary Christian music and joined the well-known gospel group Renascer Praise, led by Sônia Hernandes. As a solo gospel artist, he released several notable albums, including "Eu Amo Te Amar," "Coração de Adorador" (recorded live at the Renascer em Cristo Church with producer Reinaldo Barriga), and "Louvores Inesquecíveis," which was produced by Dudu Borges. His spiritual work cemented his presence within the Brazilian gospel music scene.

Alongside his musical endeavors, Aguiar built a parallel career in politics, serving as a city councilman in São Paulo and as a federal deputy for multiple terms. His public life has often intersected with national politics and various legislative debates, while his musical legacy continues to span both his early sertaneja achievements and his devotional recordings. Throughout his career, he has worked and associated with notable figures in the Brazilian entertainment and religious music sectors.
