Biography
Marcelo Falcão Custódio was born in Rio de Janeiro and grew up in the Engenho Novo neighborhood, developing a strong interest in music from an early age. Before consolidating his artistic career, he graduated in electronics and worked in the field, but soon answered the call of art by responding to a newspaper ad looking for a new vocalist. This audition marked the beginning of his journey as the vocalist of the group O Rappa, formed in 1992 alongside musicians such as Marcelo Yuka and Alexandre "Xandão" Menezes.
With O Rappa, Falcão achieved enormous national prominence, mixing reggae, rock, rap, and MPB in iconic albums such as Rappa Mundi and Lado B Lado A. His vibrant stage presence and engaged lyrics became trademarks of the band, which addressed deep social themes and the reality of Brazilian peripheries. Alongside his work with the group, he also got involved in side projects, such as Loucomotivos, and later invested in his solo career with the release of albums like Viver (Mais Leve que o Ar).
Over more than three decades of dedication to music, Falcão has collaborated with various icons of the national scene, sharing stages and studios with names such as Maria Rita, Nando Reis, and Pitty. His contribution to national rock and reggae has consolidated his name as one of the great interpreters and songwriters of his generation, keeping alive the essence of protest music and the country's urban culture.
