Biography

Marcelo Segreto is a Brazilian singer, composer, and arranger known for his work both as a solo artist and as the frontman of the band Filarmônica de Pasárgada. His musical journey began with the release of Filarmônica de Pasárgada's album "O Hábito da Força" in 2012, followed by several other successful projects with the group, including "Rádio Lixão" (2014), "Algorritmos" (2016), "PSSP" (2022), and "Música Infantil para Crianças Malcriadas" (2024).

Segreto made his solo debut in 2020 with the EP "América, América," which explored themes of Latin American integration and featured collaborations with Argentine singer Loli Molina and producer Tó Brandileone. His solo work continued with releases such as "Cine Compacto, Vol. 1" (2022), "Compacto e Simples" (2023) with Celeste Moreau Antunes, and "Cinemúsicas, Vol. 1" (2024), an EP inspired by classic films. He has also contributed as a composer and arranger to projects by renowned artist Tom Zé, including the EP "Tribunal do Feicebuqui" (2013) and the album "Vira lata na via láctea" (2014).

Academically, Segreto holds degrees in Letters and Music Composition from the University of São Paulo (USP), where he also pursued master's and doctoral studies focusing on popular song composition. He further completed a postdoctoral fellowship at USP researching the structure of songwriting courses. His academic background complements his artistic career, allowing him to blend technical rigor with poetic sensibility in his music. Segreto's work often draws inspiration from cinema, literature, and social themes, reflecting a deep engagement with various art forms and cultural dialogues within Brazil.
